Bekijk AllesI first read this book as a teenager, and I barely remembered anything—except that she marries a priest at the end, which was true.I wasn’t expecting anything grand or breathtaking, and that’s exactly what it delivers: a quiet, realistic account of a young governess and her daily struggles with her pupils. It’s very much “normal life,” and definitely not Jane Eyre with its passionate confessions and dramatic twists.Even so, I enjoyed it. There’s something charming about its simplicity and honesty, and I can see myself rereading it again in the future.
