An Autobiography

In this book the 26th president of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt, gives us his own unique insight into his life and career. This great man was far more than just a politician however, he was a renowned hunter, conservationist and soldier and wrote extensively about both these interests and politics. Elected with one of the largest ever shares of the popular vote he remains a respected and popular figure in American history.

This is not an objective view of Roosevelt's life by any means. He gives his own view on events and his own opinion permeates the text. Nothing less could be expected from such a charismatic and powerful personality. He covers his life just as far as the end of his presidency, focusing on his political career, although in two appendices he attacks the presidents following him, Taft and Wilson.

It is a dense and wordy account of his life and career, but well worth the read for any student of American history or politics.
