Billie Jean lives in a small isolated mountain town in 1964 with her mother, a drunken prostitute. She wants nothing but to graduate high school and get away to live a normal life. That is until her mother's boss Everett tries to force her into going to work for him. She has no friends or family other than her mother, nowhere to go, and scant knowledge of the world at large. Billie Jean also has no money.
Desperate to get away, Billie Jean teams up with Jesse. They decide to rob Everett, then run. The plan will work if they can get out of the county alive. But that is a big if.
