Beschrijving

Bleak House , Dickens's most daring experiment in the narration of a complex plot, challenges the reader to make connections--between the fashionable and the outcast, the beautiful and the ugly, the powerful and their victims. Nowhere in Dickens's later novels is his attack on an uncaring
society more imaginatively embodied, and nowhere is the mixture of comedy and angry satire more deftly managed.

I decided to read this having watched Dickensian on the BBC as I wanted to find out more about the Barbery sisters. I had seen Bleak House on TV many years ago so knew the general gist.I do love Dickens but some chapters I found hard work. There were a few chapters - generally about the more minor characters - that I just couldn't grasp so I couldn't focus on what was supposed to be happening i.e. George, Smallweed. The wider story was very engaging and as usual Dickens character descriptions were second to none.
