Beschrijving

In a decaying cityscape where the remnants of civilization are swallowed by nature, a young woman named Rachel navigates the complexities of survival amidst the ruins. She discovers a mysterious, amorphous creature named Borne, an enigmatic entity that shifts in form and purpose. As Rachel takes on the role of caretaker, her bond with Borne deepens, evolving into a reflection of her own struggles and desires in a world marked by loss and chaos.

Jeff VanderMeer weaves a thought-provoking narrative that delves into themes of identity, existence, and the delicate balance between humanity and the environment. Through Rachel's journey, readers are immersed in a surreal and vividly imagined setting where hope flickers alongside despair. The tangled lives of the characters highlight the profound connections that can emerge in even the most desolate of circumstances, making this exploration of love and resilience both haunting and beautiful.

Recensies

Bekijk Alles

I didn't expect to like this one. It didn't seem like my thing. But I really loved it. I love the relationships and the horrors of the world. The author does a great job with imagery, despite so much of the world being off from what we know.
