I feel like boys who enjoyed Hatchett on sixth grade might like it. It reminds me a bit of Huck Finn, Tom Sawyer, or even the lost boys from Peter Pan, but with a deeper meaning than those comparisons. I feel like high school girls who are required to read this books are less likely to get into it, which automatically made it lose a star. Sometimes I wonder why we still require students to read "the ckassics" because I feel like it turns then off from reading, but I see some redeeming value in this one. Glad I read this one along with my two seniors!
Group project with no teacher and it goes exactly how you’d expect.
So I read this in one sitting during high school during a red eye flight back home and actually enjoyed the story. Thought of giving it another go and now I can’t remember what I enjoyed so much about it. The last 20 or so pages were great. Maybe I just wasn’t in the right mindset for this book. I will say I liked the psychological aspect of the story though.
