In a world teetering on the edge of catastrophe, a team of elite operatives confronts the impending threat of a lethal virus that could decimate humanity. As their mission unfolds, they delve into the murky depths of bioterrorism, where science and fear converge. The intricacies of their journey explore not only the physical dangers presented by the virus but also the psychological toll it takes on those fighting to contain it. Each character grapples with their own demons while racing against the clock, knowing that failure could mean the end of civilization as they know it.

I'm not sure what it is about potentially world-ending diseases, but please, people - keep writing books about them.'The Hot Zone' is just as captivating as Preston's 'The Demon in the Freezer,' which concerns smallpox and anthrax. I listened to the audiobook and never wanted to stop listening. I learned so much, and Ebola is such a fascinating virus. It *dissolves* you WHILE YOU'RE STILL ALIVE. Amazing. Every time I read books like this, I'm sad that I wasn't better in the STEM fields because I think the complexities of viruses and disease are incredible and wish I had the smarts to study them. 5 stars all around. At this point, I'm setting out to read everything Preston has written.
