Bekijk AllesI don't understand how people like him. At first I found him relatable but then no. I pity the lovers and his wife.
I don't remember much about the book. The parts I do remember I thoroughly enjoyed. I was so excited to get to reading this book but I unfortunately didn't really like it as much as I hoped. I feel like the only reason why is because I wasn't really focused while reading it; I had to keep redirecting my attention to the book. I think it was in all honesty the writing style that lost me. Aside from all that the parts I remember and did focus on were enjoyable to read. I'm not sure I think overall for me the book was just simply a hit and miss.
This book stands out as one of the worst reads I've encountered this year. The story centers on our protagonist, who feels compelled to assume the role of a "clown" to gain acceptance from society, yet he remains utterly disconnected from those around him. The primary issue I have with this book lies in its incredibly misogynistic undertones. Perhaps this could have been overlooked if the narrative presented an engaging storyline or well-developed characters, but unfortunately, neither of those aspects materialized. It's unfortunate that "No Longer Human" didn't fulfill its potential to explore intricate themes in a manner that resonates with readers. While it aimed to address societal pressures and emotional turmoil, the execution fell short, leaving me yearning for more depth and nuance in both the narrative and the characters. In essence, the book's lack of relatability, coupled with its problematic aspects, left me unfulfilled and dissatisfied as a reader.
