Beschrijving

In the shadowy depths beneath the University lies a world known only to a select few. Here, among the remnants of forgotten history, lives Auri, a mysterious and delicate being who navigates the crumbling ruins with quiet grace. Her existence is a tapestry woven from the haunting echoes of the past, painted against the backdrop of this enigmatic underworld.

Auri's days are filled with rituals, as she tends to her cherished surroundings, her thoughts weaving through the fragmented memories and secrets that dwell within the silence. Each object she encounters holds significance, a story waiting to be discovered or cherished anew. Through her eyes, the reader gets a glimpse of the beauty that emerges from solitude and the depth of connection that can be found in the smallest of things.

As Auri moves through her silent realm, the narrative unfolds with a poetic touch, emphasizing the importance of place and memory. Shadows breathe life into her world, guiding her through moments of introspection and quiet reverie. The reader is invited to experience the solitude that defines her existence, mingled with flashes of insight that illuminate her character's profound understanding of herself and her surroundings.

In this evocative exploration, the interplay between darkness and light reveals a richness to the seemingly insignificant, urging the audience to pause and reflect on the beauty of forgotten spaces. Through Auri's eyes, a deep appreciation for the unspoken and unseen emerges, capturing the essence of a world where silence speaks volumes.

Recensies

I love Rothfuss's work because he isn't just telling a story, but weaving a spell. The prose is lyrical and beautiful and oh-so-fitting for the story itself. SLOW REGARD OF SILENT THINGS is no different. Rothfuss is clear that SLOW REGARD isn't a traditional novella and is strange. tbh, I would've been terribly disappointed if it hadn't been just that. I found the odd path this novella takes to be exactly what I expected for a story about Auri who is herself a mystery and rather strange and the writing was still true to the quality I expect of Rothfuss.I loved this book and personally found no fault, but I do have a few warnings, primarily, for such a short novel, it moves slowly because of how it is an untraditional novel. I found it a bit difficult to be drawn into the story. As Rothfuss has said, if you have not read the current Kingkiller Chronicle books, you do not want to start with this.
