הרפר לי היא צאצאית של רוברט אי לי, המפקד הנערץ של כוחות הקונפדרציה במלחמת האזרחים של ארצות הברית. לי נולדה בשנת 1926 במדינת אלבמה שבארצות הברית. בשנות הארבעים, בעת שלמדה משפטים באוניברסיטה, כתבה סיפורים קצרים שעסקו בגזענות, נושא יוצא דופן באותה תקופה. אחרי הצלחתו המסחררת של אל תיגע בזמיר הסתגרה ולא פרסמה עוד. בשנת 2015 נחשף רומן גנוז בשם ניצב כל הלילות, שכתבה לפני אל תיגע בזמיר. הספר עוסק בקורותיה של סקאוט כאישה צעירה השבה אל עיר הולדתה. גם הוא, כמו אל תיגע בזמיר, היה לרב–מכר בן לילה.

Harper Lee constrói um romance que permanece atual porque entende que o preconceito raramente se apresenta de forma explícita. Ao acompanhar a história pelos olhos de Scout, o leitor percebe o racismo e a injustiça de maneira ainda mais impactante, justamente pela inocência com que ela observa o mundo. Atticus Finch não é memorável apenas por seus discursos, mas pela coerência entre aquilo que acredita e a forma como escolhe viver. Mais do que um romance sobre um julgamento, este é um livro sobre caráter, empatia e coragem moral. É um clássico que merece sua permanência entre as obras mais importantes da literatura.
Was recommended this book a couple of times and I finally read it. It a bit confusing at first but all books are like that. Amazingly I got hooked on after chapter 2 and everything started to make sense. If I had to sum this book up I would say it's about a child's point of view of racism in the 20th century and how badly black people were treated and about the privilege and advantage white people have over coloured people.4.5/5Amazing, stunning!
DNF @ 35%You know what? FUCK IT I tried to read it with my eyes and i hated it.I tried to listen to the audiobook and i hated it.This is just not interesting AT ALL. By this point i'm 100 pages in and somthing SHOULD'VE happened already.I always think that if i need to read more than 50 pages of a book (while not being entertained by anything) to get into the story is it really worth reading? Idk . The only think i know is that i dont like this and if i continue i'll fall into a readung slump.
