So when I downloaded this app I rated this book. Literally one star out of five. I will say though as a 23-year-old girl who has definitely experienced life a little bit more rereading this book for the second time. I was able to understand a lot more about the book than I originally thought. And honestly I think this is one of those books where I kind of want to reread it every so often. Maybe not every year. But every couple years I go back and reread this book to see if I catch on to something else that I probably missed. But it's definitely a book that I thoroughly enjoyed. Actually rereading for the second time. I still didn't read it when you know like a 5 out of 5 but it did get a three out of five this time instead of a 1 out of five. I think with rereading it in time and understanding more and more the ratings will go up. I actually thoroughly enjoyed rereading it this time based on understanding the language, the dialect, as well as understanding exactly what was actually happening between TK and Janie or Janie and Phoebe versus all of their neighbors and the gossiping. Or you know Janie and Joe and their relationship and just overall understanding Janie Moore as a character. I also find myself here realizing that I related to some of the things that she was feeling and certain moments. Even though by the time I understood what she was mentally going through, she was 40 in the book and I am a 23-year-old girl. I can't understand things to the 100 most but I definitely understood some of her emotions.
I recently reread this book, in February 2011 and wrote a new review. It's a lengthy review, but I learned a lot on the second reading, hence the length. I posted that review on my blog, so here's the link: http://left-handedright-brained.blogspot.com/2011/03/review-of-their-eyes-were-watching-god.html. ***I decided to remove the original review I posted for this book due to the new review I wrote in February 2011. The original review I posted for this book is no longer how I feel about the book and therefore wanted to move forward with the 2011 review. If you decide to visit my blog to read my review, thank you for reading it, I know it's long. I appreciate the time you've given to read my review. Thank you, Tara Nelson(December 2014)
