This is going on the list of top 5 books I've read this year. My American education didn't teach me about The Troubles in Ireland. At all. I've been living in the UK for four years now and have been attempting to understand the tensions and undercurrents of worry surrounding the Irish border and Brexit and this book contextualises what's happening now in a brilliant way. I learned so much through this book and it was absolutely fascinating. It has spurned me to go read more and learn more, and that's the sign of excellent nonfiction. This is a hugely important book and you would do yourself a disservice if you gave it a miss. Go read it. Now.
