Opis

England, May 1941. The Battle of the Atlantic is raging. German U-boats are devastating the British supply convoys, pinpointing their location with uncanny accuracy.

How on earth are they doing it? How can they know almost every move of every British ship? To make matters worse, Captain Mcleod, the father of the hero of our story, is about to go off to sea to take command of the destroyer escorting one of these convoys.
Ian McLeod is a lonely, asthmatic, little boy of eleven, bullied by all the other children at school, who escapes his horrible everyday reality by living in a toy soldier fantasyland of spies and secret codes.

Until one day, Ian’s fantasies become reality when he accidentally breaks open one of his toy soldiers and discovers a microfilm inside containing some sort of code, which he eventually finds out is the German Navy uses to direct their U-boats. So that’s how they can know every movement of the British convoys!

The fate of the entire Atlantic convoy – and that of his father – now lies in Ian’s hands. He teams up with Mimi, a young refugee from Nazi-Occupied France. If they can get the microfilm to Bletchley Park, the ultra-secret Government Code and Cypher Center, and expose a gang of Nazi spies – who are on their heels every step of the way – before the deadline for the U-boat pack to “attack at noon,” the convoy and his father will be saved. If not… The clock is ticking.
