I truly wanted to give this author a shot. I've seen her Dream Harbor series all over but cozy romance isn't really my preferred genre. When I saw she was coming out with a paranormal romance, I was extremely intrigued. The cover art for both the books is stunning. Unfortunately, I was fairly disappointed with this book. It's quite obvious from the title and cover that it's based on the concept of little red riding hood. However, it truly felt like the author was beating a dead horse. The FMC is named Ruby, which ok, I get it. but then we find out the last human Rafe had feelings for was named Scarlet. And to be honest, it just feels like lazy writing. The writing style felt very juvenile. When they finally get together and he's eating her out and she finished in his mouth and he essentially says or thinks "omg you're my mate", I had to put the book down and walk away. I truly felt I had to force myself to read because there was nothing about the story/characters that kept me engaged. When that plot point happened, I had to walk away for good. If you know you like her previous books, this may be a book for you. But I just don't think this is the author for me and I likely won't be picking up any books in the future.
