Asil reluctantly agrees to indulge them, resulting in a series of hilarious, awkward, and occasionally disastrous encounters. There isn’t a Patricia Briggs book I haven’t enjoyed, and this one is no exception. As a longtime fan of the Alpha and Omega series, I loved getting a story entirely from Asil’s perspective. Despite being an ancient, dangerous werewolf whose sanity sometimes wavers, Asil is a deeply compelling lead—charming, layered, and fiercely protective of those who can’t protect themselves. The story had me laughing in one moment and tense in the next, with each date feeling distinct and engaging. And the ending? Incredibly satisfying.I’m more than ready to return to the main world of Charles and Anna—and I’m hoping a few of the newer characters introduced here make future appearances.Tropes: paranormal romance · cozy urban fantasy · protective MMC · novella energy · werewolves & magical creaturesHighly recommend for urban fantasy fans, anyone drawn to these tropes, or readers who’ve enjoyed Patricia Briggs’ other works.
