Fourteen-year-old Chase Riley has just moved with his parents from Columbus, Ohio,to a farmhouse in the country, but it may as well be to another planet. For starters, there's a pleague of cicadas, but that's nothing compared to the awesome appearance of deer in the woods - or strapped to hunter's cars. Like any kid at the turn of the millennium, Chase uses his computer to blast off droll commentary, including his top ten reasons to avoid the country, until a freak accident involving his dog changes everything.
