In the third book of The Fae Chronicles series, we find out what happened to Synthia after she became the consort of the Horde King. In addition to also discovering that not everything is as it seems. To be honest, I was pleased to know that I got this plot right (in parts) from the beginning. Although I believe that the author always insisted that the readers had this suspicion because she always left clues here and there. This book was a lot less frantic compared to the first two, but it was still good. It reminded me a lot of the book Heir of Fire, as it also served to reintroduce the world created by Amelia Hutchins. The main plot gains more depth and everything about the worlds of the Fae is getting easier and easier to understand. Not to mention that in the end, we acquire crucial information for the outcome of this story. I realized that the author wanted to further develop Syn and Ryder's relationship, the discussions here had deeper motives and were important for Ryder to finally start understanding relationships. Of course, he still has a lot to discover and learn about himself, and I think he'll eventually recognize that he loves Syn. Because he was created to suppress his feelings, he loves her, but he still hasn't realized it. Overall it was a good read. The writing remains fluid, and the events keep causing different reactions, from laughter to a feeling of anger. It's d series worth reading if you like fantasy and a lot of romance. This story is also very good to get out of a literary hangover.
