That being said we were both pleasantly surprised.I will try not to go on too much about how much I love this book but I may not succeed lolLet's start with Violet. Now I wasn't sure what to expect from her with the pieces of information we have gotten about her throughout the series. Mainly in Promises and Arrows. But I found that, even though she was rather naïve, she didn't come across as annoying. Now she did do some annoying things but overall I enjoyed her character and I felt this book explained so much of her actions especially the way she was with Kal.I think despite the gambling addiction her father that she has the most stable parents out of this whole series. That doesn't mean the way her dad treats her or treated Kal is acceptable by any means. I just think when you compare him to the likes of Carmen, Tom and Ezekiel then he is practically a saint.I do think that Violet was more communicative with Grayson. Not right away but with some of the more serious situations she was a lot more open and vocal than any of the other FMCs in their book. Now for Grayson. He is everything I love in an MMC. He is unhinged, obsessed, dark, mysterious and willing to only show the woman in his life the more vulnerable side of him. Everyone else gets the sarcastic moody man and I live for that.He clearly has serious issues from his childhood and considering how his dad raised him you can't be surprised by that fact.As for the plot of this book. It was so much better than the other books. It gave you mystery, revenge and redemption. I won't say much about it because the joy I got from this book was trying to figure out who was involved and what happened. That made this book so much more enjoyable to read. Although I did figure out one of the plot twists it didn't take away from the joy I had reading it.I would highly recommend reading the extended epilogue on Sav's website because it has a chapter from Kal and as someone that loves Promises, especially Kal and Elena, it felt like with that chapter the story had come full circle. Now while it is no secret that Souls isn't a book I liked. That being said I would definitely recommend this series. What I will say is that this series is NOT a collection of retellings. They are loosely inspired by some Greek myths and while there are some connotations or references with names they are their own stories so please bare that in mind and don't rate based on that. As she clearly states that in the beginning of every book.
