Pathogens from the Cosmos

Professor William Brigmore and his colleagues, along with scientists from all over the world, work at a Russian base in the Ural Mountains, where they meet a strange individual named General Kuskaya. Their mission is to crack the genetic code of a new form of space pathogen by using a hyper-computer and an advanced form of robots created by the combination of conventional robotics and biology.

When UFOs come into the picture, Britain's MI5 becomes involved in tracking down treacherous individuals determined to sabotage the entire operation. With the expurgation of the rogue elements, the race is on to find a vaccine. While one is eventually developed, it proves to be only partially successful.

To find a fully functioning and effective vaccine, a twist of fate takes Brigmore, the convinced atheist, to the Vatican in Rome. He is confident that an old piece of tapestry holds the key to a fully effective antidote.
