The task, which was an exceedingly pleasant one, was nevertheless at tended with considerable difficulty, owing to the abundance of matter to select from and the limited space in this small volume for its use How ever, if the reader shall receive from its perusal as much comfort and blessing as the compiler enjoyed in its prepara tion, he will consider himself amply re paid for the time and labor bestowed upon it. The volume is thus sent forth on its mission, and I can only pray that our dear Lord may own it as a means of rich blessing to the lives of those into whose hands it may fall.
