Opis

In a sleepy English town, a group of children discover a series of chalk drawings that lead them into a dark mystery. The story unfolds through the eyes of Eddie, who reflects on a shocking summer in 1986 when innocent games took a sinister turn. As they decode the markings that seem to trace a path through their past, the friends find themselves entangled in a web of secrets, tragedy, and betrayal that threatens to reshape their futures.

Years later, Eddie is forced to confront the haunting memories of that fateful summer as the past resurfaces, blurring the lines between childhood and adulthood. The tension builds as he and his friends grapple with the repercussions of their discovery, revealing how deeply the shadows of their youth can linger into their present.

C.J. Tudor weaves a gripping narrative that delves into themes of friendship, guilt, and the impact of choices made long ago, all while keeping readers on the edge of their seats with unexpected twists and revelations.

When this book was recommended to me my first thoughts were that it was like IT, a book that I really enjoyed as I love Stephen King. Little did I know that it was going to be very very similar.I did not enjoy the start of this book and I'll be honest about that. I'm giving it 4 stars though because once I hit the midway point things picked up and I really couldn't put it down. It went from feeling like a shortened and carbon copy of IT to a really amazing thriller that I loved. I did not see the ending coming at all, though I did feel like it was a little bit rushed.Eddie as a character got a bit old to me fairly quickly-- especially in the chapters about him being an adult. As a kid the things he was doing could be justified as not knowing better but as an adult they were just plain weird. Fat Gav and Hoppo were characters that I kept getting confused honestly. All in all if you like a murder mystery and a thriller you'll like this book.

Edit: knocking it down a star bc it's highly forgettable. I already can't tell a plot point or charasteristic oops-I guessed the killer like half way through but the last chapter??? I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING AT ALL i guess you could say i needed a...HEADs up

This book was okay. It wasn't the worst book, and I returned to finish it when I had time to kill. I sometimes had trouble following, but I am that way if a book doesn't grip me.
