Like nick cutter's previous work , the troop , this book was gross. Real body horror nightmare fuel. Some really despicable characters who do some especiall despicable things to dogs , animals , children and each other. At times made me feel pity and sadness while sick to my stomach, but well written in spite of that.

While I wasn't entirely thrilled with the way Cutter tied up all the loose ends of the many plot threads of this novel at the end, but this book was delightfully horrifying and bleak.
