Opis

The highly anticipated sequel to The Luminaries by New York Times bestselling author Susan Dennard. Winnie Wednesday has gotten everything she thought she wanted. She passed the deadly hunter trials, her family has been welcomed back into the Luminaries, and overnight, she has become a local celebrity. The Girl Who Jumped. The Girl Who Got Bitten. Unfortunately, it all feels wrong. For one, nobody will believe her about the new nightmare called the Whisperer that's killing hunters each night. Everyone blames the werewolf, even though Winnie is certain the wolf is innocent. On top of that, following her dad's convoluted clues about the Dianas, their magic, and what happened in Hemlock Falls four years ago is leaving her with more questions than answers. Then to complicate it all, there is still only one person who can help her: Jay Friday, the boy with plenty of problems all his own. As bodies and secrets pile up around town, Winnie finds herself questioning what it means to be a true Wednesday and a true Luminary—and also where her fierce-hearted loyalties might ultimately have to lie.

The book follows on from the first, but at a slow pace it isnt untill two thirds of the book that problems start to be solved. I found the begining half of the book just winnie moaning which did not make me want to continue but i did and the book was enjoyable just hard to read.

After devouring The Luminaries in a few hours and knew I needed to sink my teeth into The Hunting Moon because oh my God Susan Dennard has given us an immersive series, and a world that is both intriguing to be a part of along with a Hell no, thank you I'll pass on what Winnie Wednesday has endured. There's a smooth transition back into the series that makes it feel like you've never been away from everything happening to the residents of Hemlock Falls. I couldn't put this book down either and knew that I'd soon be anxiously waiting to see just what monster or nightmare would come Winnie's way because she's been put through the wringer far too many times. Winnie's life may well be partially how she had desperately hoped it to be when we'd first encountered her in The Luminaries but you just know there's going to be a cost.. With familiar faces, and a knowledge that all is far from how it should be for not only Wednesday but many in The Luminaries, trust has to be placed in those she may not have before and things are delectably tense which adds to the unsettling feeling both Wednesday and the reader feel as the story unfolds. The monsters are unique and complex, which is also refreshing and even some that may well be familiar are so well done by Dennard that they have the ability to escape the page and evolve in your imagination. I certainly wouldn't want to encounter the unsettling Whisperer on  and spooky night that's for certain so I can only imagine how its presence unnerves Wednesday given she's still somewhat isolated in town...Dennard has given us a fantastic middle child in this series, it holds its own and gives us both answers that you've been eager for but also sets us up for more trouble in the upcoming book which cannot come soon enough.
