The Youngest Mountain Man

How would you feel if Indians attacked your wagon, killed your Ma and Pa and kidnapped your little sister, Hannah? Thirteen-year-old Jacob Thompson is alive to tell his story only because he was rescued by two rough old mountain men in this pre-Oregon Trail adventure. Prophet is an old trapper who teaches Jacob mountain man’s ways as they search for his sister. Four-Toes Wallace is Prophet’s grouchy partner who has no use for anyone, especially Indians, and “greenhorns” like Jacob. Jacob is forced to grow up fast if he is to survive. He must master skills he never dreamed he’d need, and survive dangers he never thought he’d face. Along the way he discovers a new talent, which changes his life and gives him a new name. Can Jacob endure Four-Toes’ insults? Can he keep his scalp in dangerous Blackfeet country? Can he survive a deadly grizzly bear attack? And what about little Hannah?
