Opis

In a quiet corner of the world, a little dog finds itself in a desperate situation, trembling and whimpering, yet paralyzed by fear. Maggie, a compassionate soul, feels an undeniable urge to help this creature in distress. With each gentle probe into the thicket, she hopes to coax the frightened pup into the safety of her arms. The bond between them starts to form amidst the chirping crickets and rustling leaves.

As Maggie delves deeper into the undergrowth, she confronts her own fears and uncertainties. Memories of her past bubble to the surface, intertwining with the plight of the little dog. Every rustle, every shadow becomes a reminder of lost innocence and unhealed wounds. This journey is not just about rescuing the dog but also about confronting the cries of her own heart and the echoes of what she left behind.

Maggie's determination shines through the growing darkness. In the face of adversity, she discovers resilience she didn't know she possessed. The bond between her and the trembling dog begins to inspire hope in a world shrouded in shadows. Their interaction serves as a catalyst for healing, both for the pup and for Maggie.

Through terror and tenderness, the story unfolds, revealing the transformative power of compassion. As Maggie pushes forward, she uncovers the hidden strength that lies within the human spirit and the profound connection that can exist between a person and their four-legged friend. Each moment shared transcends mere rescue; it becomes a testament to the enduring nature of love and the courage to move forward, even when the path is unclear.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Their Angel's Cry, book two in the Chief Maggie Riley series, picks up from where book one ended. Most of the residents of Coyote Cove hate her, but Maggie doesn't allow the hatred to deter her from carrying out her duties. It didn't help that one of their own died because of her previous case. They blamed her despite it not being her fault. Luckily, this is the case, as she faces the undaunting task of unravelling a mind-boggling situation. Her discovery of three corpses in the mountains, where the cause of death, was a mystery within itself. However, what was even more shocking was the baby and dog she discovered near the crime scene. 1. Why were the victims on the mountain? 2. How did the baby survive?Their Angel's Cry was a brilliant addition to the series. In this instalment, Maggie's detective skills played a prominent role. She gained a wonderful support system throughout the investigation, one of which came from an unexpected source. The mystery in this instalment was quite twisty, and it left me guessing from start to finish. This time around, figuring out the who, why and how proved a challenge. This featured many suspects, who all appeared to have a motive. Funny enough, it was the one person whom I did not suspect that turned out to be the villain. Talk about a plot twist. If you love police procedurals, I strongly encourage you to pick up this series. It has everything that lovers of this genre would love. A well-written mystery, a strong female and great supporting cast. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading
