This was a good book although it is near the bottom of my list of favorite Roth books. It felt like he was trying to write a fable, with the epilogue providing the moral of the story. The book was a fast read. The tone was a bit all over the place and the character's were a tad thin, but if you pick this up for some leisure reading and don't go looking for the same depth you'd get in American Pastoral, The Plot Against America, etc... you'll enjoy it.
