Summary:Long story short, if you have a fixed mindset you believe in fixed abilities and talent. You reject effort and find hardship a sign that you aren't meant for whatever the goal is. This makes you very defensive against all criticism and reluctant to make any improvements at times of need. It also makes you very sensitive to setbacks and hardship, making it more likely for you to give up a challenge or never even take on one.The growth mindset, tells you to enjoy the process and not be disheartened by challenges. Push through when it gets hard or slow and don't assume that it is hard because "YOU" are not meant for the job. Learn and put hard work. There WILL be results. And any result is way better than none.My Opinion:This was simple and enlightening, despite what all these other two-stars-and-bellow reviews say.I read the updated edition where Dweck mentions how vastly her ideas had been adopted in organizations and the education system. She does not hesitate to address all the misinterpretations regarding her ideas, such as "you can achieve everything if you work hard enough". There are no such messages throughout the book; trust me, I'm a very sensitive person that can interpret anything in the worst possible way.Coming from a society overflowing with fixed mindset and the concept of inherent superiority, this book was just what I needed. Because when the majority of any community are fixed mindsetters, you don't even get to hear about the concepts of growth and grit until it is too late. Overall, If you find the preachings of this book obvious, and the remarks repetitive, raise both hands in grace, because you, my friend, live in a better society than most.
