A Lucky Break

Lucky Break is a fascinating memoir of the author's war experience, detailing his army training, front line service, and non-combatant duties during the Second World War and the Italian campaign. However, it was a pre-war incident that defined the author's military life. In August 1941, Michael Barnes was involved in a bicycle accident and injured his wrist. With the injury misdiagnosed and then undetected by army medical examination, the author entered into active service. It was to be some years later, before the injury was properly treated and - as this book details - it just may have saved his life.
