Not my usual trope, but weirdly, I did like it. Was a fast read for me, as I wanted to know what would happen next. Would I read MM again? No, I don't think so, as I am not really into it. But I did like the writing style, and honestly, all books by Leigh River are so well written that even if it's not my trope, she keeps me hooked. If you're into this genre, you might love it even more! Leigh River knows how to craft a story that pulls you in and doesn't let go.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
There’s definitely some fucked up moments in this book but I absolutely loved it.
Chokehold by Leigh River – 3.5⭐This book is the literary equivalent of a late-night snack: you know it's not gourmet, but you keep going back for more. Chokehold starts off strong, the kind of read you fly through without noticing the time—but the moment you put it down, picking it back up feels like dragging yourself to the gym after a cheat day. Still, once you're back in, you're trapped. The plot? Predictable, like a soap opera with a twist it thinks you didn’t see coming (spoiler: we did). There’s fun to be had, sure, if you don’t mind glossing over the mild discomfort of certain scenes and a handful of unnecessary detours that feel like filler episodes in a good TV show.Did it change my life? No. Did it get me out of a reading slump? Surprisingly, yes. So hats off to that, even if it was a slightly bumpy ride.
