Descrição

Valerie Leftman is living in the aftermath of a tragedy that forever altered her life. Five months have passed since her boyfriend, Nick, committed an unspeakable act of violence at their school, leaving her grappling with intense feelings of guilt and confusion. As she navigates her way through the halls of grief and blame, Valerie finds herself torn between her love for Nick and the horror of his actions.

Struggling to reclaim her identity amidst the shadows of that day, Valerie confronts the reality of her relationships with peers who now view her with suspicion. As she revisits the "hate list" she and Nick created, filled with their frustrations towards others, she begins to question her own feelings and the complexities of love and rage. This painful journey not only challenges her understanding of forgiveness but also tests the limits of compassion.

In her quest for redemption and healing, Valerie discovers the importance of confronting one's past. With the support of her family and friends, she learns to redefine herself beyond the tragedy and reclaim her narrative. The exploration of loss, accountability, and the search for hope resonates deeply, highlighting the impact of choices and the resilience of the human spirit.

I liked the story but it was still a hit and miss for me. I found myself at times kind of staring away from the applause during what was happening in the book and then there were other times where I was fully invested. Had to read every single word all over again and again and again and again. But overall the story was well written. I love the characters I love about and I think it does represent a good view of what happens to the person who still likes related or nose the shooter because people never talk about that. You never want to shine light on the shooter's life in general too much because you don't want to give them all the hype that they're probably looking for by doing something like doing stuff like this. So I think it's very interesting having the girlfriend's point of view and like having her like kind of throughout this book. Having to reprogram herself to learn not to love this man anymore.
