Unlike the first book, this one was actually a lot easier to read and the pacing felt much better! Buuuuut, the ending was just not as satisfying as the first one... if that makes sense?The ending in the first book gave you something tangible that you could really understand and wrap your head around. But the climax of this one felt much more abstract and left me a bit confused 馃

I love Kingfishers writing and stories and this was no exception.4.5 stars

Not as good as the first book, but still a good read. A little slow, despite being so short. I assumed there would be a continuous focus on fungi, so I was surprised to see it be another enemy entirely.
