Descrição

In a gripping narrative that intertwines espionage and chilling crime, a detective finds himself embroiled in a web of intrigue that spans across the shadows of Moscow. Set against the backdrop of a city steeped in history and secrets, he faces a series of brutal murders that seem connected to a sinister plot lurking beneath the surface of society. As he delves deeper, he uncovers threads that link the killings to a larger conspiracy, testing not only his investigative skills but also his loyalty and morality.

With a rich, atmospheric setting, the story immerses readers in the complexities of post-Soviet life, where past and present collide. The blend of suspense, psychological depth, and vividly drawn characters keeps the reader engaged as the detective races against time to stop the killer before more lives are lost. Each twist and turn propels him further into a dark and haunting world where trust is a luxury few can afford, and the truth may be deadlier than he ever imagined.

I almost gave up on this book after a couple of chapters, but am so pleased I stuck with it, as it took right off after then. The storyline became totally engrossing, and I found it tough to put the book down most nights. I have seen the word 'bleak' used to describe this book and I can't think of one more appropriate; however, cold, anxious, frustrating and atmospheric also come to mind, perfect for crime noir in 80's Moscow. Give it a couple of years and I'll read it again.
