Tansy

The first part of a trilogy about the Malones. Fifteen-year-old Tansy's family find her hard to understand, though all of them - practical Bridie, gentle Kate and her brothers, Pat and Seamus - love her. Raleigh Devereux, the English youth to whom Tansy first offers her heart, treats her as a plaything. Michael O'Faolain, for whom she has affection, but no love, never comprehends her yearnings for the freedom to be herself alone. Not until the failure of the potato crop does Tansy come face to face with reality - and with the complexities of her own nature.
