Ver TodosStephanie Baudet returns with another fantastic adaptation of Conan Doyle's The Empty House for children.Having read the original, I was curious about just how close to it the adaptation would be and Baudet doesn't disappoint. With illustrations of the famous detective and his friend and confidante, Dr Watson by Arianna Bellucci to aid in the retelling of the first story that takes place three years after the demise of Holmes at the hands of his nemesis the devious Moriarty the reader is taken back in time.Whilst the story is simplified, as I said it does indeed stay true to the 1903 novel of the same name. Baudet has clearly taken the time to ensure that a new generation will be as captivated as the many who have come before in the adventures of Sherlock Holmes. If you have a child who loves mystery, and would welcome a new hero to their world then I would highly recommend these books. They are short enough that they would be an easy read for a middle grade child or to be read aloud as a wonderful, vivid adventure before bedtime.Thank you to Stephanie Baudet for breathing life into an old classic and making it fun to read who done it!
