Justin
I came from humble beginnings and had to work hard for everything I had. Everything from the shirt on my back to my next meal was hard earned.
When I met Val in high school, I wasn’t expecting to find my best friend, my partner in crime… I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with her.
Graduating from college and going our separate ways, we promised to keep in touch. Five years of silence went by after I moved away from California to Las Vegas to become a firefighter paramedic in the one city that could get her off my mind… or so I thought.
Running into her and her pretentious asshole of a fiance changed everything. When she called me for help in her moment of need, her battered body was my undoing.
I swore an oath to serve and protect selflessly, but I would go against everything I stood for to protect her… even if it cost me my life…

Valentina
My father was a wealthy businessman who wanted to give me the world, but all I wanted was to be ordinary.
I attended public schools to be normal, and that is where I met Justin. He was my best friend—my only friend—until we lost touch after college.
When a suspicious car accident killed my parents, my father’s will forced me to move from California to Las Vegas to take over the family business. The last thing I expected was that I was the sole heiress of the mafia family that ran the Las Vegas strip.
After running into Justin at a supermarket, I knew I finally had my way out of this sad excuse for a life. But when a rival drug cartel took what’s mine, I’d show them just how ruthless I could be.
I’m not the weak victim anymore. That girl died as soon as my fiance beat me within an inch of my life, and you can’t kill what’s already dead.
