Come Calling

With a new horse, a found dog, lost people push Sam Cassidy back out on the high trails in North Idaho.

Samantha “Sam” Cassidy, a widow and sixty-eight years feisty, is a member of the local mounted search and rescue (SAR). A transplant to North Idaho long time passing, come there when she was just fifteen, she’s now ‘vintage Idaho’.

When Sam’s horse succumbs to cancer, her son buys her ‘Trucker’, a horse she’s admired since first she set eyes on him two years ago. First day home with Trucker, and, come calling, is a dog—a big dog—lost and hungry.

Thus begins a fresh start in Sam’s life as that dog proves himself to be a new best friend and way, way more—a wizard at finding the lost.
