This is the crucial question...
What do bestselling authors and original and creative artists and musicians have that makes them so creative? Quite simply their brains are different.
It's true, on a fundamental level they have structures in their brain that others don't. This would be terrible news if it wasn't for the fact that you can actually change the structure of your brain to match theirs. Really. You do this all the time and it's a natural process. It’s a built-in feature called “neuroplasticity” which means your brain adapts, learns, and actually can adapt and learn for the whole of your life.
This is not in terms of just learning mental skills but also developing physical areas of the brain, new neural pathways, inside your brain to learn physical and mental skills. CGP trains you to literally reprogram your own brain for better creativity, and the change is permanent, or as permanent as you want it to be.
Have you ever tried to learn something, and practised a lot only to be thwarted at every turn? Just as you are about to give up you get a few successes, and then retire happy that you got that far. But unaccountably the next time you try it magically you are a LOT better at it. This is the magic of neuroplasticity at work. While you rested, neurons (the business end of your brain) were slowly wrapped in a substance called myelin, like electric tape, which bonds the new connections in your brain and makes them stronger and more permanent. So the next time you practise the skill, you are not just better but you are a lot better.
Some people are a bit confused by any new approach to writing, art or music other than the usual passionless intellectual discussions of craft, but this is no normal creativity course. It goes way deeper than that.
Here's the point I want to you get ideas with your mind and your brain, not a dictionary or an art book. You create ideas from your mind and your brain, not cookie cutter templates on how to structure a piece of music, a painting or a screenplay.
So it's simple, if you want to be as creative as your heroes and win applause, prizes, just plain money or whatever your goal is, you'll need to do some work on your brain, because once you do that you can do anything.
