I absolutely hated it. Like thos was Purley lust over love everything. The book was basically 'oh no something terrible has just happened and everyone is going to die but let's fuck'.
The plot twists were unappealing to me. I have a deep hatred for all FMC and MMC.
Never going to read another Sarah J Mass book again!
I went into this book unsure of what to expect given the first 2 were so good but I'd heard mixed things about this one but I have to say I still absolutely loved it but the only thing that stops it from getting 5 stars is that SJM is still too scared to kill off main characters in her books in the big battles.Especially if I compare it to the likes of Mistborn and where you're just not sure who will be alive by the end.The other thing too that some people have pointed out is that she does seem to love having her main characters near death, or actually die at the end and then get miraculously brought back to life.ACOTAR it was all the High Fae giving up a drop of their essence, then Silver Flames, Nesta giving back what she took from the cauldron, ToG I think it was Aelin giving up here power so that she was no longer OP.I do love how SJM writes her books though and she writes out the battle sequences quite well, and this series as a whole was such a fun ride with such mind blowing twists that it more than made up for the SJM cliches.I really enjoyed the world of Midgard, the depth of each of the characters and how by the end I almost cared more about the side characters than the main character. Fun ride but yeah, 4 stars purely because she plays it too safe a lot of the time.
I think Crescent City is now my favourite series ever; and I’ve read my fair share.I actually briefly thought of DNFing this book at one point towards the first quarter due to boring info dumps, but luckily they didn’t last too long and the book became my favourite in the series
