Red is a beta tester.

It's a nice way of saying 'professional drug addict.' He ingests dangerous experimental chemicals for a living, and he's accidentally stolen a valuable new prototype from the most powerful chemical company in the Four Posts -- a gargantuan, self-contained city that thrives on addiction. The Posts' drug of choice is Presence -- a chemical hallucinogen that lets the user peek into history. But what if the drug isn't safe? What if there are far-reaching consequences that only Red can see, with the unstable new beta version burning in his blood? If Red can make it to his mysterious contact in the posh Penthouses, he might get those answers...but first he'll have to break through Industry, the high-security manufacturing floors that supply the Four Posts with their chemical fix, where the sinister Alpha Gentlemen are waiting to take back the stolen prototype -- blood and all.
