Описание

I wasn't sure what this book was going to be when I went into it but honestly it's one of the best series' that I started this year and I'm really glad that I got into them. I have the rest of the books now just waiting to be read when I get the chance.I loved the characters of Alex and Connor, that Colfer managed to show that they did love each other but ultimately were brother and sister and did argue all of the time. It took a while to get into the Land of Stories itself but as soon as it did the book had me on the edge of my seat just wanting to know what was going to happen in this world. The world was split into different kingdoms and that's where the princesses come from and honestly there was a part of me expecting a twist where all of the "Prince Charmings" were the same guy but them being brothers was so much better. And the twist at the end had me gasping cause I kind of called it but not exactly and I just really loved this book and I recommend it to anyone who wants a nice and easy read that twists the fairytales you know and love.

The Wishing Spell is the first in Chris Colfer's series, The Land of Stories and I absolutely loved the incredibly eloquent tale featuring many well-known faces from fairy tales such as Jack and his Beanstalk, Cinderella and the Wicked Queen. There's something intriguing about the retelling of fairy tales and the web Colfer has woven in The Wishing Spell is my new favourite. The series is ideal for middle grade children (six to eleven years) but I truly believe anyone who loves the allure of fairy tales and magic will, like myself want to read every book so you can learn The Land of Stories. I can promise you, that whilst the reader will recognize the names of the characters - you certainly won't believe life some of them are living when our two main characters, twins Alex and Connor Bailey trade high-school and a world filled with pain for one were magic is on the breeze. Book one in The Land of Stories series is a breath of fresh air, the world building is phenomenal so that the reader feels as though they had fallen into the mysterious world. Colfer has created something that draws you in and once you've begin, you won't want the adventures to come to an end. There are twists and turns, and surprises a-plenty that the reader won't come seeing. I'm really looking forward to starting book two and seeing just how the adventures will continue!
