Now and again comes a YA fantasy writer that throws away the rule book and gives us something fresh and original. Say hello to Megg Jensen.

If you've read Anathema, the first book in this triology, then you know this is something different from your average YA novel. As the story unfolds you realise that the Cloud Prophet trilogy is an historic dystopian fantasy; a coming of age drama that explores the emotional journey of a fifteen year old slave girl as she leads her people on a voyage of self-discovery.

The target audience for Oubliette is the mid-teen YA reader, and parental guidance is advised for younger readers for mild language, violence and intimacy. But this is a novel to be savoured, not just read, and will have wide appeal to readers of all ages.

A splash of fantastical magic adds yet another dimension to this absorbing and compelling story that always keeps its feet on the ground. If you're looking for unicorns and faeries YA then this isn't for you.

If you want a great story, and the start of a wonderful trilogy, Oubliette will have you gripped from page one, and eager to read the final part of the trilogy, Severed.
