Regicide

It is now 1648.
After the bitter taste of defeat at Naseby, which brought about his surrender and imprisonment, King Charles is determined to bring about the demise of his Parliamentarian enemies.
Seemingly willing to negotiate with his captors, in actuality, the king is planning a dramatic escape, secretly assembling a large Royalist army so he can renew hostilities, win back his realm, and gain revenge for the many humiliations he has endured.
For Francis Hacker, the painful memories of the war have started to fade. He has returned to his lands in the Vale of Belvoir and the loving embrace of his wife and family. After so much heartache, shattered lives have started to be rebuilt.
One springtime afternoon, Francis receives an urgent summons from Oliver Cromwell. From this moment, the lives of those he cares about the most are once again threatened by the chaos of conflict, the thirst of ambitious men who seek power, and the painful realisation that nobody is what they seem.
