Benny, Rita, Frankie and Denis are friends. Every weekend when they get their pocket money they go to The Nook – a real sweetshop owned by two sisters Dolly and Nancy.
The adventure begins when the council announce their plans to demolish the shop because it is unsafe.
The Nook is not just any old sweetshop. It’s full of the most wonderful treats supplied with special recommendations from Dolly, the nicer of the two sisters, who is always chewing and loves sweets as much as the children themselves do.
Under no circumstances can the four friends allow the sweetshop to be knocked down. Through various schemes they pull out all the stops to renovate the shop and keep it open, jumble sales, protest marches and miracles included!
