This Sherlock style detective duo mystery with a superstitious Pirates of the Caribbean supernatural vibe was a fun, unique concept. Turton is a master at creating atmospheric, vivid settings that pull you right into the pages of the book. This whole book primarily takes place on a ship… and somehow that was still completely captivating. While it was still as impeccably well-written as I’ve come to expect from Turton, it was a little drawn out and didn’t hold my attention as well as his others. There was a lot going on in this book and I had no idea what to expect. I certainly didn’t guess the outcome. Although I wouldn’t rate this one as high as his others, I’d still highly recommend it if you’re a fan of Turton. He’s quickly climbing up the ranks of my all time favorite authors.
Rare that I abandon a book but I just wasn't able to get into it at all. I like the genre but it was due back at the library so moved onto something else.
