Описание

In a twist of fate, Jeremy Thorn, the U.S. Ambassador to England, and his wife Katherine's life takes an unsettling turn with the arrival of their new son. Their joy quickly transforms into dread as the couple uncovers a series of strange and terrifying occurrences surrounding their child's behavior.

As Jeremy navigates the treacherous waters of diplomatic life, the supernatural elements enveloping their family grow increasingly menacing. The child’s peculiar traits and an atmosphere thick with foreboding escalate the tension, testing the limits of parental love and belief.

With each revelation, Jeremy must confront disturbing truths that challenge his perceptions of good and evil. As dark forces coalesce, he becomes embroiled in a chilling battle that forces him to question not just his role as a father but also his very understanding of the world around him.

Caught between duty and desperation, Jeremy's journey is a harrowing exploration of power, faith, and the haunting legacy that may irrevocably alter destiny itself.

I watched the movie when I was a child and so none of what happened in the novel came as a surprise. I think that has somewhat spoiled the experience and taken the edge of what would have been a really thrilling book. Nonetheless, it is still a very entertaining read. It has a slow build that necessitates patience and then an explosive end that is both fast and thrilling.
