Thoughts in Solitude

Those who have been indulgent enought to find something that interested them in Seeds of Contemplation and No Man Is an Island may pperhaps be capable of taking some pleasure in these reflections which, if they have any value at all, have the merit of saying here and there some of the things the author most wanted to say to himself and to those who might be inclined to agree with him. And this is especially true of the second part, on "The Love of Solitude." Those who know Max Picard's stimulating pages in The World of Silence will recognize the inspiration of the Swiss philosopher in many of these meditations.
