Visa allaIt is Hauntingly Beautiful This is more than a biography about a single disease, it is a biography of every single person who has been impacted by this War on Cancer. Siddartha Mukherjee shows the historical, political and economical held by cancer while doing a fantastic job of explaining the physiology and treatments of cancer to anyone who is focused. This is not an easy book to read, but it will definitely give you a new appreciation of your fragile life.Happy Reading!
"Cancer really is a pathway disease."For I have always read more nonfiction than fiction, medicine is the substitute for horror genre because it gives me goosebumps, it makes my skin crawl. I have read some books under the same category and they were all breathtaking, like [b:The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks|6493208|The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks|Rebecca Skloot|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1327878144s/6493208.jpg|6684634], [b:The Hot Zone : The Terrifying True Story of the Origins of the Ebola Virus|16213|The Hot Zone The Terrifying True Story of the Origins of the Ebola Virus|Richard Preston|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1413747743s/16213.jpg|909325], and [b:Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End|20696006|Being Mortal Medicine and What Matters in the End|Atul Gawande|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1408324949s/20696006.jpg|40015533]. The Emperor of All Maladies tells a long, long story about cancer but focuses mainly on the countless studies done in the past to figure out the causes, symptoms, and cures for cancer. I am amazed how scientists had done so much for cancer, including confronting tobacco companies and dealing with politics.Despite the so many medical terms that made me have to launch Merriam-Webster, I think this book presents most things we need to know about cancer.
