4.5 starsI adored the cruel prince series and was so excited for another installment in this world. Unlike some readers, as much as I adored Carden and Jude, they weren't the only great things in this world. Theres the magic, the lore, the politics, the creatures, the world, the kingdoms. I love it all. And we got all of it in this book too.I want to hate how the relationships between our main characters are, but then I remember how much I hated Carden at the start. Holly Black is great at making us love, hate, trust and not trust the characters.The no lying thing throws me all the time, trying to figure out what everyone's hiding.I loved this story, its was great, I can't wait to read the next book which is out Feb 2024 sadly. But my only downfall was the minor bland parts of the books. Sometimes it was a little boring but easy enough to read.
And with this book I completed my very shy reading challenge :) It took some time to get used to the fact that Oak is not a child anymore.I felt so sorry for most of the characters. For Oak and his never ending guilt and desire to keep his family safe even if it meant putting himself at risk over and over again.And for Ren who couldn't grasp the smallest idea that someone could love her and see her behind her looks. Her self esteem was so low, I was really struggling at times. Her history was so sad and gut-punching.
Gente vamos ser sinceros a wren é uma narradora mto chata, por mais q ela tenha sofrido mais q Jesus Cristo eu não me importo nem um pouco com os problemas dela. Do início do livro até 89% nada demais acontecia, nenhum evento interessante, e a única coisa boa era a dinâmica dos personagens. Em 90% até 100 foi incrível, as coisas foram acontecendo de uma forma q eu ficava entretida e ansiosa como seria o gancho pro próximo livro. Num geral acho q nao tinha necessidade de ter esse livro, talvez se desde o começo tivesse começado com acontecimentos mais importantes seria melhor .Com certeza lerei o 2° livro pq quero ver o desenrolar da história q rolou no final, mas ele primeiro foi uma pequena decepção
