Beskrivning

In a realm steeped in tradition and burdened by destiny, the House of Berethnet has ruled over Inys for a millennium. Queen Sabran IX, though yet unmarried, bears the weight of her lineage’s legacy upon her shoulders. The kingdom teeters on the brink of chaos, as ancient magic threatens to resurface and disrupt the fragile peace that has held sway for centuries.

As Sabran navigates the treacherous waters of courtly intrigue, she is faced with pressures from all sides. The stakes rise sharply as those loyal to her must confront imminent dangers that lurk in the shadows. With enemies lurking both within and beyond the walls of the palace, she must secure her throne and protect her people while grappling with her own desires and fears.

Amidst the political machinations and lurking threats, Sabran learns the importance of trust, sacrifice, and embracing her true identity. The intertwining fates of her kingdom and the magic long thought dormant sets the stage for an epic tale that unfolds through bonds of friendship, courage, and the relentless pursuit of power. It is not merely the crown she must safeguard, but the very essence of her world that hangs in the balance.

Recensioner

I struggled on what to rate this book. The world building is fantastic and there are definitely parts of this book that are equally fantastic. However, I found a good portion of the content to be pointless and was not excited by many of the side stories happening throughout. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it. I felt as though a good portion of this book could have been removed and we would have arrived in the same place. I also only fully felt invested in the characters Sabran and Ead. The other characters I found to be very flat without much depth. But by the end I did enjoy Sabran and Ead and felt they were more well rounded. Overall, I’d give this author another chance. I think there is huge potential. I just didn’t fall fully in love with this book.
