Inheritance Hierarchies in Knowledge Representation and Programming Languages

This work serves as an introduction to the research on inheritance hierarchies and a collection of some technical presentations of recent developments in the field. Among the topics covered taxonomic reasoning, mixed inheritance, the relationship between inheritance and knowledge representation, inheritance networks, inheritance in object oriented programming languages, partial equivalence relations, inheritance mechanisms in the OBJLOG language, horn clause theories, and logic programming knowledge bases.
